Congratulations are in order for CTlab Senior Editor and Co-Director, John Matthew Barlow, who successfully defended his PhD dissertation, entitled “‘The House of the Irish’: Irishness, History, and Memory in Griffintown, Montréal, 1868-2009,” this past Friday the 13th (of all days). Hats off to Matt for surviving the torture that academics inflict on those who aspire to the secret club achieving this significant milestone.
Can we read your dissertation somewhere?
It should be available in a few months’ time on either the website of Concordia University’s libraries (http://library.concordia.ca/) or on the website of the National Library and Archives of Canada (http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/lac-bac/search-recherche/lib-bib.php?Language=eng).
Sir,Finishing a master on the history of Saint Ann’s ward under Paul-AndrĂ© Linteau, I would very much like to have a look at your thesis wich will without a doubt be a source of pertinent information for my research. Do you have any idea when your thesis will be available at Concordia’s library? Sylvain Rondeau,UQAM
It should be available sometime this summer, it has been sent off for printing and binding and all of that. It might appear faster, though, at the National Library of Canada, in micorform format, though I do believe that full-text versions of dissertations are available for download on the Library’s website these days.
